Nature's Superfood

Superfoods are nutrient-rich foods considered to be beneficial for health. Some examples include blueberries, salmon, broccoli and oats.

Oats are a natural superfood because they are 100% whole grain, and contain vitamins and minerals.  Oats contain fibre, and are unique in that they are one of the richest sources of rich beta-glucan, a soluble fibre, that can help to lower cholesterol re-absorption^. They are also low in sodium (salt) and provide protein and carbohydrate for energy.

SO WHY OATS ARE GOOD FOR YOU?

1. CHOLESTEROL REABSORPTION

Oats contain a special type of naturally occurring soluble fibre, called beta glucan, which has been shown to lower cholesterol re-absorption^. Healthy plant foods, such as oats, contain no cholesterol. Oats go a step further by also helping to slow down the re-absorption of cholesterol in the bloodstream, making them an ally in your heart health*.

^A 40g serve of oats provides a minimum of 1 g beta –glucan. Oats can help lower cholesterol re-absorption as part of a diet low in saturated fat. 3g of beta-glucan each day is required to help lower cholesterol re-absorption.
