Rolled Oats vs Quick Oats

How do you choose between rolled oats vs quick oats? It all depends on your preference for texture and taste, plus how long you can spend preparing your oats.

What are Rolled Oats?

Rolled oats are created by steaming hulled oat grains, known as oat groats. After steaming, these are flattened into rolled oat flakes to created rolled oats. Otherwise known as Traditional Oats, rolled oats have a delicious nutty texture when cooked and are great for breakfast as well as in your favourite baked biscuit!

What are Quick Oats?

Quick Oats are the same as our Traditional Oats but they have been cut finer and rolled thinner.  This makes them quicker to cook – perfect for those cold winter mornings when you don’t want to wait for your breakfast of creamy oats.

Packing a nutritional punch

Preparing your Oats

Oats are very quick and easy to prepare. Add your UNCLE TOBYS Traditional Oats  a saucepan with water or milk and cook for approximately 5 minutes, once they boil.  Alternatively, you can add your oats, water or milk to a bowl and give it around 5 minutes in a microwave.

If you’re in a real hurry, choose Quick Oats rather than rolled oats to shorten your cooking time. Quick Oats can be cooked on the stove top or microwave in around 2 minutes.
