At the UNCLE TOBYS factory in Wahgunyah, oat groats (hulled oat grains) are steamed before being flattened or rolled to create our famous Traditional Oats.

Quick oats are created by steaming the oat groats for longer and rolling them thinner, which breaks up the grain so that they absorb water quicker and cook faster.

Both rolled and quick oats make an easy and nutritious breakfast and are essential ingredients in favourite snacks and treats such as muesli bars, biscuits, crumbles and cakes.

How to cook with rolled oats

The versatility of oats means that cooking with oats is only limited by your imagination. Enjoy your oats with these healthy and delicious ideas:

  • Top your freshly cooked oatmeal porridge with blueberries, bananas, grated green apple, sultanas, ground nuts, a sprinkle of brown sugar or a drizzle of honey. Combination possibilities are endless!
  • Increase your fibre intake while enjoying a sweet treat by adding oatmeal to muffins, cakes and biscuits.
    Oats are a healthy substitute for breadcrumbs – use them to coat meat or as a thickening and binding agent in recipes such as burger patties, rissoles, casseroles, and meatballs.
