Rolled oats vs quick oats

Uncle Tobys rolled oats

We make rolled oats at the Uncle Tobys factory in Wahgunyah by taking oat groats (hulled oat grains), steaming them, then flattening or rolling them to create our famous Traditional Oats. Rolled oats have a coarser texture than quick oats and a delicious nutty flavour.  They make an easy and nutritious breakfast and they're an essential ingredients in snacks like Uncle Tobys muesli bars and home-made smoothies and baked goods. To prepare them, bring a saucepan of water or milk to a boil, add Uncle Tobys Traditional Oats and cook for around five minutes. Alternatively, you can put Uncle Tobys Traditional Oats and water or milk in a bowl and microwave for around five minutes.

    Quick Oats

Quick Oats are similar to rolled oats, but they're steamed longer and rolled thinner. This makes them cook faster, with a smooth creamy texture. You can cook Uncle Tobys Quick Oats on the stovetop or in the microwave in around two minutes.

Both Uncle Tobys Traditional Oats and Uncle Tobys Quick Oats have the same nutritional benefits and are made from 100% wholegrain oats, with no additives. All oats are a natural source of energy and are rich in beta-glucan, a soluble fibre that naturally helps lower cholesterol reabsorption^.

^As part of a healthy diet low in saturated fat. 3g of beta glucan every day is required to help lower cholesterol re-absorption.
