What is SWIM KIDS OPERATION 10,000?
Swim Kids Operation 10,000 is a fundraising campaign developed by Uncle Tobys to help the Royal Life Saving Society raise awareness and funds to provide FREE Swim and Survive lessons for 10,000 children who would otherwise miss out.

Drowning is a leading cause of preventable death in children aged 0-4 years. More than 50 children between the ages of 0-17 drown in Australia every year, highlighting the importance of swimming and water safety education for all Australian children. While many children are learning these skills, alarminlgy thousands of Australian children are missing out because of a lack of access or through financial disadvantage.

Research shows that children are most likely to miss out on swimming lessons if they come from lower socio-economic and disadvantaged areas, Indigenous communities, some multi-cultural backgrounds or if they live in rural and remote locations. These children are the focus of Swim Kids Operation 10,000 which aims to raise money to fund Swim and Survive lessons for 10,000 less fortunate children.

How is UNCLE TOBYS and ROYAL LIFE SAVING SOCIETY involved?
UNCLE TOBYS has been proudly supporting Royal Life Saving Society – Australia since 2009, to help prevent the drowning deaths of children. As a major partner of the Swim and Survive program UNCLE TOBYS is working together with Royal Life Saving Society – Australia to help teach Aussie kids to Swim and Survive and raise the importance of water safety with parents.

UNCLE TOBYS has provided cash donations and other in kind support such as much needed advertising for the cause and the use of Australian Swimming Champions such as Grant Hackett and Eamon Sullivan to create awareness and engage the local community.

In 2012, we are asking the community to help us raise much needed funds for Royal Life Saving Society – Australia to enable them to provide FREE Swim and Survive lessons to children that would otherwise miss out.

Our aim is to provide 10,000 FREE Swim and Survive courses (1 Term) in 2012.
