A Day in the Life

4.30am wake up then a quick bite of toast and off to training. Train from 5.00 am-7.30 am Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and have gym for an hour. After training, come home and it’s breakfast time. During the day, I may have appointments whether its massage, physio or doctors. Back to the pool in the afternoon for training 3.30 pm-6.00 pm then dinner and bed.

    Which event are you most looking forward to?
    100m Backstroke

    Besides swimming, what other events at the Olympics are you most looking forward to?
    Basketball and Gymnastics

    How did you get into your sport and how old were you?
    I started swimming as a baby because my Mum is a Learn To Swim Teacher

    What’s the best and worst thing about your sport?
    The best thing is making friends around the world and the worst is the cold winter mornings.

    What’s the worst injury you’ve had?
    Not an injury – but a bad year of sickness in 2011

    Ian Thorpe – both now and when I was growing up

    What’s your most embarrassing sporting moment?
    Competing in the 100m Individual Medley at a meet and forgetting to chnge to backstroke

    The harder you work, the luckier you get
